Seasons

This animation, originally created as a class project in After Effects, evolved into a large-scale public art installation projected onto the facade of Penn State's Recital Hall in the Fall of 2025. Over two nights, the two-hour looping piece transformed the building into a living canvas, captivating passersby and earning enthusiastic feedback from the community and the Music Department Director.

The project presented a unique architectural challenge: the building’s prominent L-shape and the unavoidable shadows cast by surrounding trees. Rather than fight these constraints, I designed the animation to embrace and incorporate them. The concept centered on the quiet drama of nature and seasonal change, using the building’s geometry as part of the composition and allowing the moving tree shadows to become an organic, live element of the piece.
